The conference planning committee requests the honor of your presence at the ISHC 2008 Special 20th Anniversary Conference, scheduled to be held October 30 - November 2, 2008 at the Fairmont Washington, DC Hotel!

The Fairmont Hotel is located in Washington’s fashionable West End and is just minutes from historic Georgetown and many of the city’s most popular visitor attractions.

Rachel Roginsky, conference chair, along with the entire planning team have organized what promises to be an outstanding program entitled “Partnering for Success—the Next 20 Years”

Following we would like to share some of the conference highlights with you!

Thursday October 30, 2008

The ISHC membership meeting will be held Thursday afternoon from 1:00-2:45 PM.

The formal conference program will begin at 3:00 PM following the ISHC membership meeting. The programming for Thursday afternoon includes what promises to be a terrific and most informative session entitled “In the Year 2020”.

Please plan to join fellow members and invited guests Thursday evening for the Welcome to DC opening reception hosted by Fairmont Hotel & Resorts.

Friday October 31, 2008

The programming Friday morning will begin with a “View from the Top” Executive Roundtable discussion. Following we will hear “Thoughts from our Partners on the Future of the Hospitality Industry”.

The programming on Friday morning will conclude with a “Tech Update: Today’s Trends, Tomorrow’s Directions” session.

Friday afternoon we have a series of break out sessions planned. Attendees will have the option of attending three of the following sessions.

  • Marketing Your Practice
  • What’s New in Hotel Contracts- Trick or Treats?
  • Human Resource Trends and Their Implications for Hotel Profitability
  • Professional Ecosystems---Creating Value through Dynamic Partnering
  • Capital Markets Update: Capital “holics”!?!
  • The New Mixed Use Property-What’s Right with This Picture?
  • What’s Ahead in Hotel Design
  • F& B Trends: If It is a Flat World Why am I So Tired of Going Round It?
  • Creating a Marketable and Profitable Spa by being On-Trend Rather than Trendy

Please plan to join us immediately following the break outs for a special “Happy Halloween: Trick or Treating gathering. This will be a Halloween themed costume event for children of meeting attendees and an opportunity for them to participate in the conference!

We will launch the programming on Saturday morning with the always popular and most informative “Global Hotel Industry Performance Update” session.

Following will be a panel on “What’s Green Got to Do With It”. The formal programming on Saturday will conclude with a special “Global Sound bites: Around the World in Forty Five Minutes” session.

Saturday evening please plan to join us for the ISHC 20th Anniversary “A Tribute to Yesteryear and a Toast to Tomorrow” gala celebration in the Crystal Room at the Willard InterContinental Washington hotel. The Willard is known as the “Crown Jewel and Grande Dame of Pennsylvania Avenue” and the charming and elegant Crystal Room has been the home of many spectacular galas and society events in Washington.

A. Member Registration

Registration is available on line on the ISHC web site at www.ishc.com/members/am2008.

Or if you prefer to register by fax or regular mail, please complete the registration form available on–line include and return it via fax to the attention of Latisha Harrison at 1-202-216-9646 or forward it via regular mail to ISHC Attention Latisha Harrison 1444 I Street, N.W. Suite 700, Washington, DC 20005.

Just a reminder! Register by August 15, 2008 and take advantage of the special $100 early registration discount (i.e. Early registration fee of $1095 if received by August 15th, thereafter $1195.) 

Please note that all registrations must be received by September 20, 2008.As a courtesy to members and invited guests cancellations will be accepted however, please note that they must be received in writing by August 15, 2008  to receive a refund (less a $100 processing fee). Important please note that cancellations received after August 15, 2008 are non refundable.

B. Spouse/Guest Registration Program

The Spouse/Guest registration fee including the Welcome Reception and the Gala is $250.

Hotel Accommodations

A block of rooms has been reserved at the Fairmont Washington DC hotel starting Wednesday October 29 and continuing through Sunday, November 2, 2008. The special rate for ISHC meeting attendees is $299 plus tax, single or double occupancy. Important please note that rooms will be available at this rate until September 18th or until the room block is full, whichever occurs first.
 
Hotel Reservations:

Reservations can be made on line and or via the Fairmont global reservations center.

  • By phone –reservations can be made by calling Fairmont Global reservations at 1-800-441-1414 and requesting the “ISHC 2008 Annual Conference” rate. Also please note that the ISHC group booking code is GSHG-10.
  • On-line reservations - If for whatever reason you should have a problem making a reservation on line via this link, please call the Fairmont global reservations at 1-800-441-1414.

Attire

  • Conference program – business casual
  • Friday October 31st business casual or Halloween Costume attire
  • A Tribute to Yesteryear and a Toast to Tomorrow Gala– black tie optional/dressy cocktail/evening attire.
